Most couples still picture a Costa del Sol wedding in June, under a hard blue sky. But more and more weddings in Marbella, Málaga and the rest of the coast now take place between November and March. Prices at venues drop, suppliers have free dates, the light is soft and golden all afternoon, and the temperature is often perfect for a long lunch on a terrace. If you are planning a winter or off-season wedding, a photo booth is one of the easiest ways to keep the party warm, busy and full of laughter once the sun goes down early.
This guide explains how a photo booth works at a winter wedding on the Costa del Sol, what changes compared with a summer event, how much it costs and how to plan the space so that it becomes the centre of the evening rather than an afterthought.
Off-season weddings are no longer a compromise. Many fincas and hotels around Marbella, Estepona and the Axarquía offer noticeably lower rates outside the peak months, and some only accept one wedding per weekend in high season but several smaller events in winter. Couples also tell us they like the calmer pace: no August traffic on the A-7, no fight for hotel rooms for guests, and photographers and caterers who are not exhausted from back-to-back summer weekends.
The climate helps too. A typical December day on the coast is mild and sunny at midday, with crisp evenings. That makes a winter wedding a natural mix of outdoor ceremony and indoor celebration, and that indoor part is exactly where a photo booth earns its place.
In winter the sun sets around six o’clock. That means the dinner and party move indoors earlier, and the hours between dessert and the first dance can feel long if guests have nothing to do. A photo booth fills that gap. Guests who would otherwise sit at their tables get up, gather in groups, grab props and start mixing with people from the other side of the family.
A booth also solves a typical winter problem: fewer outdoor photo spots after dark. In summer, guests take pictures by the pool or against the sunset until late. In winter, a well-lit booth with a good backdrop becomes the best-looking corner of the venue, and every guest leaves with a printed photo in their hand.

For couples choosing between formats, our comparison of the 360 booth, magic mirror and classic photo booth explains which one suits a smaller indoor room and which one needs more space.
The booth should look like part of the wedding, not like equipment brought in from outside. For winter weddings we usually suggest a backdrop and print design that match the season without turning it into a Christmas party:
If the ceremony takes place in December, a subtle festive touch works well. In January to March, a fresh Mediterranean palette with lemons, olive leaves and soft blue tones reminds guests that they are on the coast, even if they are wearing coats.
A winter wedding means the booth almost always goes indoors, so space planning matters. Our standard setup needs an area of about 3 × 3 metres. The equipment itself is up to 1.8 metres tall and the backdrop measures 2.5 × 2.5 metres, so it fits in most hotel salons, finca dining rooms and covered terraces.
If you are still choosing the venue, our guide to finca or hotel weddings in Marbella covers the indoor options that work best when the weather turns.
Our price does not change with the season. A photo booth starts from 400 € for 3 hours, and the price is the same across the whole province of Málaga: Marbella, Málaga city, Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Mijas and inland villages. A live flower or greenery backdrop costs 150 € extra.

Winter weddings often start earlier: a ceremony at one or two in the afternoon, a long lunch and an evening party. The best time for the booth is usually from the end of the meal until the middle of the party. In practice, we recommend:
Three hours is enough for most weddings of 60 to 120 guests. Everyone gets their turn, many come back two or three times, and the prints become a guest book if you ask guests to stick a copy into an album and write a message next to it.

Yes. In smaller weddings of 40 to 60 guests, the booth often becomes the main entertainment after dinner, and every guest leaves with several prints.
Only in a covered, closed and ideally heated space. Wind and humidity are not good for the equipment or for the photos, so for winter we recommend an indoor location.
